How the calculator works
The calculator converts each time to minutes after midnight. If the finish is earlier than the start in automatic mode, it adds 24 hours. You can also choose the end day explicitly. Paid time equals the shift span minus unpaid break minutes.
Divide paid minutes by 60 for decimal hours. A result of 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours, not 7.45.
Examples you can check
| Shift | Unpaid break | Paid time |
|---|---|---|
| 09:00–17:00 | 30 min | 7 h 30 min / 7.5 h |
| 19:00–07:00 next day | 30 min | 11 h 30 min / 11.5 h |
| 08:15–16:45 | 45 min | 7 h 45 min / 7.75 h |
Dates and clock changes
This is wall-clock arithmetic for one shift. It does not apply a time zone, daylight-saving adjustment, payroll rounding or a legal break rule. Equal start and end times mean zero hours in automatic mode; choose Next day for a full 24-hour span. For a clock-change night, verify the actual elapsed time separately.
Values stay in this browser page. The calculator does not submit your times or save them to an account.
