Plan the reminder around the start
The shift start is only one part of getting to work. You may also need time to travel, prepare or arrange a handover. Choose reminder timing that makes sense for your own routine, and check it after a shift is moved.
For night work, be especially clear about the date. A 00:30 start on Friday happens just after Thursday evening, while a 23:30 Friday start happens near the end of Friday. Write dates and times together when checking a roster.
Check your device settings
Notifications and alarm behavior depend on the device, operating system and permissions. After enabling a reminder, use a nearby test time to confirm you can receive it. Recheck the behavior after changing notification permissions, focus settings or the app’s reminder settings.
A widget is a convenient view of your plan, but the calendar remains the place to review the full shift details. Do not treat a notification as confirmation that an employer has accepted a swap or a leave request.
A short weekly check
- Compare the coming week with your latest workplace roster.
- Update swapped shifts before relying on reminders.
- Check overnight dates and any change in location or time zone.
- Keep your next day off visible as well as your next workday.
